Windows Installation Guide Using Ivanti Portal Manager

The Ivanti Software Portal allows self-service installation of Franklin College's commonly used software titles on Windows computers. The Software Portal includes site-licensed software as well as free utilities that you can install at your convenience. If you encounter an error during the installation, or would like to suggest additional software to add to the Portal, please submit a Help Desk ticket at http://helpdesk.franklin.uga.edu or e-mail your request to the Help Desk at helpdesk@franklin.uga.edu.

Step 1: Open Portal Manager.

  • Click the Start Button, and scroll down to / search for "Portal Manager" in the Start Menu.

Step 2: Select the Software to install

  • Locate the software that you'd like to install in the list and click "Install".

Step 3: View progress

  • After you launch the installation, you can view the progress of each installation by clicking the "Status" button on the top bar.

Step 4: Finalize Install

  • Once the software installs successfully, you should see the appropriate icons on your desktop or in the Start Menu.

  • The Portal temporarily displays success or failure status in the Status box, but you can see the result by switching to List View. (Note: Occasionally the result will list as failed when the software was actually installed successfully. Please check the Start menu and see if the software is there if you get a failure message.)

Apple Installation Guide Using Managed Software Center

The Managed Software Center (a.k.a Munki) allows self-service installation of Franklin College's commonly used software titles on Mac OSX computers. Munki includes site-licensed software as well as free utilities that you can install at your convenience. If you encounter an error during the installation, or would like to suggest additional software to add to Munki, please submit a Help Desk ticket at http://helpdesk.franklin.uga.edu or e-mail your request to the Help Desk at helpdesk@franklin.uga.edu.

Step 1: Open the Managed Software Center

  • Open the Managed Software Center from the icon on the dock or from the Applications folder.

Step 2: Select the Software to install

  • Find the program you wish to install and click the "INSTALL" button beneath it.

Step 3: View progress

  • The install button will change to "INSTALLING" and a spinning icon will appear while the program installs.

Step 4: Finalize Install

  • When the button changed to "REMOVE" you have successfully installed the program.

  • You may uninstall the program later by clicking the "REMOVE" button.
